Well illustrated, very good handbook.

The advantage of this book compared to the much better Guide to the Birds of Mexico written by Howell and Webb is the size and weight (and cost). It is much lighter and fits easily into a small bag or a large pocket but obviously it is less comprehensive and, to that extent, less useful! Once you get used to the arrangement of the photographs - the logic of which is not immediately apparent then you will find this book useful. Once I had identified potential species confirmation was made by use of both an on-line photographic record of potential species and a very good bird trip field report from someone who had visited the area in Mexico that I was also visiting. Overall an excellent buy as the main purpose of my visit to Mexico was not bird watching and I wanted something light and easy to carry. BUT you may need to use it in combination with another on-line source to be sure you've correctly identified the bird.Read full review
