About this product

Product Information

Two-soldier teamwork overcomes a flood of violent opposition in Army of Two: The 40th Day, a sequel to developer EA Montreal's 2008 high-def debut. The mercenary heroes of the original console game, former Army Rangers Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios, return for paramilitary adventure in Shanghai, China, where a rival group of private military contractors has caused a massive disaster that threatens to destroy the entire city.

As in the original Army of Two, cooperative tactics are a major factor in the play of the game, and the soldiers must work together in order to make their way past obstacles and to stand up to heavy assaults by outnumbering forces. Based the sequel for Xbox 360 and PS3, the PSP debut edition of Army of Two plays fast and fluid, with arcade-shooter styled action and simplified controls. Much of the 3D third-person shooting is from an angled, top-down perspective.

An MMO-like aggro system allows players to manage the attention of computer-controlled enemies. One character may draw enemy fire, for example, while the other moves around to cause massive damage with an attack from the flank. Army of Two: The 40th Day's main story campaign can be played with a human partner over an Ad-hoc connection or with a computer-controlled teammate.

  • Pretty Good Sequel

There are still some issues with the game but overall its improved from the first one. Your options for gun customization? Much more numerous; they now include stocks, grips, barrels, bayonets, silences, and yes, paint schemes. Cooperative tactics? Not only are they implemented better (co-op sniping actually makes sense this time), but there are even more cooperative options -- such as taking hostages or mock surrendering.
