Product Information

In The Gladiators of Rome, players control a contingent of up to ten fighters, using weaponry and armor straight from the age of the Roman Empire. Recruits of various types are culled from slave pens, each proficient in a certain type of weapon like mace, axe, hammer, sword, and so forth. Characters earn money by winning battles, which is used to upgrade weapons, skills (endurance and speed), and armor. Fighting occurs in three definitive arenas featuring a specific linear number of fights and gameplay combines a real-time strategy motif with an option to stop the action between moves.<br><br>The environment reflects Roman Empire-era architecture, weapons, armor, and chariots. Fighting options include moves like attack, defend, sprint, and special attacks, and players can use finishing moves (killing blows) to incite the crowd, which leads to more money if victorious. Rotating camera angles with the arrow keys allows players to zoom in and out during battle, while controlling their fighters from a third-person, 3D perspective.
