    Last word... DO NOT BUY THIS HDD UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

    Where to start? Bad news from the beginning. HDD arrived in an anti static bag, rattling around in a box! Was advertised as new and as an internal HDD but after registering it with WD turned out to be an EXTERNAL HDD which had been stripped out of its case! This is an advanced format drive meaning that to use with XP you have to run an alignment utility. I could not download this software because it is only for internal HDD so I had to upgrade to Windows 7. Then, I found that this drive has a 'head park' feature which parks the head after 8 seconds (so called green to save power). This resulted in system failure due to excessive bad sectors and orphaned files. A call to WD support ended with me being told to 'go away' as the warranty was void due to the drive being removed from its case ...

    Slow but good for backup

    The drive is really slow (only 5400rpm) but good for backup, store files, etc.

    This WD is brilliant for everyday use.

    I bought this to be use has a second hard drive caddy and its seems to be more quieter than the Seagate 5ooGB that I was using and the performance is great and its in a very good condition, Dose'nt seems to get hot either and like many hard drives I've used this brilliant WD 1000GB is perfect for my everyday use. Plug into my pc or laptop and very quick pop up on the screen. I would recommend the WD over any HDD thats on the market of today.

    Perfect for all. Best all rounder

    These HDDs are immensely quiet compared to others which I have previously tested. The performance of these drives are comparable to those at the higher end and they offer a great amount of storage than other drives which claim to perform better or are hyped up to be. This drive really is an all-rounder for whether you use it for storage of multimedia or for gaming purposes and I would recommend it to all. Good price and stability compared to the WD Caviar Black.

    great asset to repair my daughter,s computer

    Helped me retrieved all her lost files and going the computer back to its original state, worked in computer a long time ago. Got into robot programing and made lots of cash. Taking things forward will repair more computers in my retirement. Watch this space.
