First rate transaction, excellent communication with the seller, camera exactly as described and delivered promptly and most impressively wrapped. Very many thanks, great service.

The lens arrived on time and is exactly as described. Have put it on my D7200 and it all works OK. I have to commend the packaging though. I haven't measured the amount of bubble wrap the box arrived in but it was huge. You could probably have delivered it by dropping it from a passing jet at 39,000 ft and it would have just bounced. I'm saving the wrap to insulate my greenhouse next winter. Brilliant service.

This is the first ever review I've written and it might be the last. The service from gbr13 is as good as it gets; from the ordering process to the communications during processing. The item was exceptionally well packaged for a fragile lens . I've only just begun to look at the item I've received but at first sight seems to fully justify the 'very good' description for a used item. I'm very happy with the whole process.

    Quality nifty fifty

Bought this as my first lens to compliment my kit 18-55. I take a lot of street photos and family portrait types, this lens copes well with most situations! The focus is sharp and fast, bokeh is awesome and the quality of shot is amazing considering it's price. It covers so many every day 'walk around' sessions, and although mostly plastic it's so light on the camera. Shame it doesn't have image stabilizer but still copes well without. Well worth the money and would recommend to anyone thinking of buying one. 👍

Works OK in autofocus mode if that is what you need

This has to be the best value Canon lens ever. 50mm is a useful focal length. It may be me or this particular lens, but manual focus is dysfunctional, the lens works fine in autofocus but will not focus manually. You can eventually fine tune the focus manually after finding focus automatically.

  • Great Lens, Great Price!

Always handy to have a nifty fifty in your arsenal and at this price you can’t go wrong! Great for portraiture because of the wide aperture and with this focal length on full frame, it’s as close to what the human eye sees as you can get. Perfect for making your images look natural. Only slight issue I have with it is it is not always as sharp as I would expect and can suffer from slight softening within the image, especially around the edges. Not always the case though and will depend on the lighting (I’ve found). Overall an amazing lens and one that you should definitely own!!

  • Overall great price, too good to pass up. Lens is fun to experiment with.

This lens is great for the price and is ideal for a first "prime" lens. The wide aperture of 1.8 is a great advantage and can produce pictures with a very shallow depth of field, and a small pin point focus. The lens feels very "toy like" and on smaller models such as the 1100D/550D/600D etc it will make the camera feel very light and look more compact. Auto focus is rather sluggish and you will find it easier to take pictures using manual focus when being a bit more creative. Macro capability is poor, which is disappointing but that may not be an issue for some people. The 50mm focus length is more like an 80mm on a cropped sensor and this may be "too close" for some people. Personally i would prefer a 35mm or 24mm but those are out of my price range for now, so i'll make do for the ...

  • Nifty? Yes and inexpensive

For a cheap 50 mm with an aperture of 1.8 for under a hundred quid it doesn't get much better. At this price I doubt nothing comes close. It is nifty and it is 50 mm! It is made of plastic , the focus ring is not buttery smooth but the results better its very little price. For this alone the lens is worth having your in kit bag.. small versatile and no need for flash indoors unless its extremely dark. Focus a little slow on the canon 700D but still fast enough for most shooters. I personally prefer manual focus most of the time however the lens does nail the shot in auto spot focus mode. Continuous focus hunts a little but it is not painful. Let's not forget the images are sharp, ( not razor but certainly above average) but tend to soften around the extreme edges. A little noisy focus ...
