Absolut empfehlenswert !

  • CD: Not Fade Away (remembering Buddy Holly)

This album covers some of the best songs by Buddy Holly, but performed by different top-level pop stars of today. All the tracks are good, but the 2 that stick out to me are "Wishing" (Mary Chapin Carpenter & Kevin Montgomery in super harmony) and "Learning the game" (Waylon Jennings & Mark Knopfler on guitar) - stunning. Two other tracks worth mentioning are "True love ways" by the Mavericks (fabulous lead vocal) and "Think it over" by The Tractors - just plain good stuff. The Nanci Griffith track ("Well, all right") was disappointing by her standards - she made precious little of a very good song. Very good CD though - it would be one of my "Desert Island" discs!

  • Various Artists - Not Fade Away (Rem' Buddy Holly)

Great cover versions, including an interesting Buddy Holly/ The Hollies version of Peggy Sue Got Married - using Buddy's voice. Many of the covers are more country than Rock and Roll - very good Waylon Jennings/ Mark Knofler collaboration to finish off the collection - Love it, great to hear new takes on the genius' music.
