It's a great History story but the narrating is so low you can't hear it. That's a shame as it ruins the whole enjoyment of the disk. I really like the dish and the story line. I wish they had the narrating turned up so you could hear it.

It matters little how old you are, this program ( all DVDs) will give you a thirst to absorb it all and come back for more. You can generalize and say this about any of the titles Ken Burns has produced as all are wonderfully entertaining. What you thought you knew about our American history, is put into perspective when the events and facts behind actions come together and expand America out west. The explanation of what happened and who was where and when, and how things developed is so richly described for us by a well gathered group of historians and painted for us in this visual history lesson. The input from native peoples, relating details of the times and the wonderful voice overs by some of the best actors and others, makes this a more personal experience as well. This is a ... As with all of Ken Burns shows, this is amazing in it's scope and photography, a must for anyone interested in Westward expansion of our country.

This is a brilliant series and gives very in-depth history of the West. Brilliant because it also gives the Native American point of view. A MUST for all American citizens to see. Beautifully researched and directed by Ken Burns.
