A Good Beginning for British (and American) History
Our Island Story is an excellent introduction to British history in storybook format. If you are wanting a fun readable introduction to British history for your children (or yourself), this is a great place to start. This book is also a good choice if you are wanting to start American history, since much of American history begins with British history. This edition of the book is very good - has large print with lots of white space, quality paper, and nice color illustrations. It is also formatted correctly which is something that can be hard to find with books that are now in the public domain. Some people might find it a little dated (which I suppose could be considered a negative), but that is one reason I prefer this to newer histories.Our Island Story is an excellent introduction to British history in storybook format.
