The Insinkerator 56 is a great domestic unit and possibly for use in a small commercial kitchen environment, it only has a single stage grinding system so don't put fibrous materials in it (Banana Skins, Celery, etc) as it will cause the waste pipe to block. We used this to replace a customer’s older Model 55 (15 Years good service) and I have to say it's so much quieter and with the addition of the Air Switch it negates the chance of wet hands coming into contact with the electrical power source. Because we were replacing an old unit the whole fitting process only took 30 minutes, but if you are installing from scratch and with modifying existing waste pipes then we would allow a couple of hours to be on the safe side. NOTE: On a new installation you will need a qualified electrician to provide you with a power source under the sink. If this lasts as long as the customer’s previous model it will represent great value for money. Pros: Easy to Install Quite to Operate Generally a good build quality Value for Money Cons: Only one point here - The quality of the Waste T Pipe isn't as good as the one's on the older models (That's not to say that it’s not usable because it is) but we used the pipe from the customer’s old unit because it just looked better - Job Done! My trusty Insinkerator Model 65 died which was installed back in 2005. So after some searching around the internet I found this model was now obsolete. So I opted for the model 56 and was not disappointed. It was easy to install, which for me is important as I'm no plumber. The new one picked up all the same waste pipes, so no changes required. It was pre-wired and ready to go. Didn't take long to swap out the old one and replace with the new. Runs really quietly. Wife is really pleased with the outcome, so that was mission accomplished.

i have had waste disposers for over 30 years, I have tried other brands but found none to match Insincerator. This is one of the cheaper models but fits the bill perfectly. The air switch feature is new to me but works a treat, As a product and at the price I paid I cannot fault it.

Only installed it recently but it is working well. A little difficult to install in view of the limited space under the sink and the fact that it required the pipework to be modified. Particularly like the air switch.
