Great book lots of info, easy to read, may need another book for more info
I got this book to help restore a Kundo 400 day clock I purchased at a flea market for $15. After reading through some of the book, I believe it will help me fix the clock. It has lots of info on the suspension spring, setting the beat and tearing the clock down for cleaning and repair. Although there is lots of info on the 400 day clock it doesn't have the measurements for cutting the suspension spring and setting up the fork, it suggested another book, "NEW HOROLOVAR 400 DAY ANNIVERSARY CLOCK REPAIR GUIDE" Now I feel like I need this book to go along with the one I got. Makes me wonder if I should have just got the 400 Day Clock Repair guide instead. Anyway, this does seem to be a great book with lots of helpful info on the clock but I will probably need the other book to read with ... It's well written, easy to understand, which is nice when it comes to 400 day clocks, since they are easier to deal with if someone gives you the information plain and simple. EVERYONE should know there is no point to own this book or any other 400 day repair guide without the Charles Terwilliger Horolovar book, which is basically a diagram book, to help you locate the pieces you'll need. I feel with these two books together, you'll have all the knowledge you'll need to successfully maintain and restore your 400 day clocks.It's well written, easy to understand, which is nice when it comes to 400 day clocks, since they are easier to deal with if someone gives you the information plain and simple. This book is a "must have" in my 400 day clock repair library.
This is a very well written and practical book covering all aspects of repair and restoration of the 400 day clock. I would recommend this book be purchased in concert with the Horolovar 400 day repair guide by Charles Terwilliger which has more of the historical as well as the technical details of the clocks including suspension spring lengths etc.
