About this product

Product Information

On February 12, 1934, Union Pacific premiered the M-10000, the first lightweight, streamlined passenger train, calling it "Tomorrow's Train Today." The tiny brown-and-yellow speedster offered hope and promise for America's future during the Great Depression. Later renamed City of Salina, the train was the beginning of Union Pacific's City Fleet of streamliners including the City of Los Angeles, City of San Francisco, City of Portland, City of Denver and Challenger, departing from Chicago and serving all the West. Union Pacific system map, timetables, travel brochures, and advertising are featured.

Hard to find editions. I appreciate that they were packaged properly to prevent damage in shipping. Surprisingly many big name booksellers haven't figured that out. I'll return to this seller for best selection in automotive books, best prices and best service.

  • Good price & worth the money

Great book on Union Pacific 'City Fleet' passenger trains. Great photo's from the 1930's to 1971, timetables, lots of picture's of the UP M1000's, Fairbanks Morse, EMD E-2's to E-9's Diesel's, GM Aero Train, Milwauke RR, Chicago & North Western RR, and Southern Pacific joint train's & Steam locomotive's. Bit dissapointed all the photo's are black & white & lack's a bit information on locomotive rosters, but still worth the money.

  • Disappointing

In spite of the beautiful full-color cover, all pictures inside this book are black-and-white. The cover implies a collection of color photographs. The beauty of Union Pacific's passenger equipment was in its Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Gray paint scheme. This book was a disappointment, as the UP's former glory was buried in tones of black, white and gray.

  • The book is very good!

Hey, buy the book because I want the history of Union Pacific, and needed to know more about their machines, training, and tours, the book is excellent, thank you! I would like to receive more information about new books,
