As a collector of Need For Speed i couldn't wait for Prostreet's release. Sadly Prostreet doesn't look or feel like Need For Speed. Instead of wide open, hot police pursuits and heated street racing we have been given closed courses without very many choices. Need For Speed Prostreet doesn't even live up to it's name. Prostreet should be about street racing not about competing on closed tracks. Prostreet has way too many drag races and you don't have the option of automatic transmission which many racers prefer. A few things i found that should have been addressed by EA Games are that seem to have gone backwards with the graphics in Prostreet as they are not as good as they were in Most Wanted. The game menu isn't player friendly at all, trying to find certain options are a task, car customization and selection isn't any better either. Many cars were from other NFS games. We no longer have a free roam option, there are no cops and we can't drive off road. Saving a game is no easy task as it takes a long time to load and save. Another thing i found is that in many races all the cars are the same as yours. Was Need For Speed Prostreet worth the wait? For me, No. I don't see Prostreet replacing Most Wanted as my favorite racing game. If you are looking for another Most Wanted or Carbon keep looking as Prostreet is not what you are looking for. On the other hand, if you are a collector then Prostreet is a must have for your collection. But here's a tip, if you are buying Prostreet to collect wait until the prices drops. Please don't take my word as gospel as i may be judging Prostreet by past EA Games hits like Most Wanted and Carbon. Someone who has never played other Need for Speed games might settle for this cheap initation. I guess i just don't understand the concept behind NFS Prostreet but, hopefully EA Games will try harder and smarter with their next installment of Need For Speed.Read full review
I can't figure out why EA decided to take a complete 180 from the Need for Speed feel with this game...? All of the things that made past Need for Speed games so great are sadly missing from this game. No police pursuits, no options, no variety, and no free-roam! No free-roam?? You're kidding, right EA? Basically, you're trapped in a world of poorly-designed raceways, racing cars that are identical to yours, you can't leave, you can't choose not to race, every race is a repeat of the last one, its just redundancy. Part of the NFS fun is just driving around hitting things! Not in this game. To go along with it all there is always some annoying announcer screaming things at you in over-the-top slang language. I can't say that past games have had the greatest sound-tracks, but I vastly prefer the rap seconds to the boarder guy cracking lines and yelling. It completely detracts from the intensity that past games had. It makes it almost a joke. It makes me wonder if game designers are trying to veer away from the other NFS versions to keep it less...criminal...?? No police chases, no illegal street racing, no destruction of public property. The claim is this is more "realistic" to actual racing in this day and age, now that it is a true sport in some places. I really don't care how realistic it is, it is horrifically boring! Maybe it is a valiant effort to remove some of the violence, but, really... isn't that what made the NFS games so much fun??? Who wants to drive down a slalom-like tunnel over and over and over again? Video games should be a way to escape reality. This game beats you over the head with how dull the "reality" of sport racing is. And really - just as an added irritation - does everything have to match?? The levels' graphics feel like a juniors department store display! After 20 minutes you feel like you have camo print burned into your retinas! It's just way too much. If you are looking to re-live the fast-paced Need for Speed experience - go back to Carbon or Most Wanted until EA pulls their heads out (hopefully) for the next NFS installment. Or try Midnight Club from RockStar Games - that was surprisingly a really great game! You won't find anything fast-paced with ProStreet. Better luck next time EA.Read full review
My husband love all Need For Speed games..he couldn't wait for Pro Street's release. Pro Street should be about street racing not about competing on closed tracks. Pro Street has way too many drag races and you don't have the option of automatic transmission which many racers prefer. My husband says and I do to.. we like the graphics they have got better we think.. He was just hoping it would have been a good game.
looking through all of the need for speed games that i had, this one has to be one of the best ones made after most wanted. the driving is alright, its very different to all of the need for speed games, the game introduced using the clutch and the wheelie competition. only thing i didnt like about it is that they dont have all of the tuner cars that i wanted in the game + there is no roaming around.
en-us People, I do not believe it when I started playing. This title has nothing to do with the franchise. But when you get to play there is a different model of gameplay. I do not recommend for fanatics of "Most Wanted" and "Underground 1 & 2". But who is related to a new idea, can play. Have good fun. pt-br Pessoas, eu não acreditei quando comecei a jogar.
Very fun and realistic game. It is fast paced, and challenging to even the most veteran need for speed guru. Great cars and races such as drifting, drag racing(no weaving in and out of traffic), and grip races. Dislikes: the only one i can think of is the whole time your drivers name is Ryan Cooper and it gets a bit anouying due to the fact everytime you do a race you will hear his name about a dozen times. I just learned to zone it out or mute the TV. Best need for speed game yet for the PS2 console.
My mom got this game for me for Christmas so I played it for a hour and was board....this game blows EA sucks for making such a junk game. I have played every Need For Speed game made and this one sucks the original 3 were great esp nfs3 hot pursuit. Pro street does not follow ANY of the other need for speed story lines or actuall game play. If youre wanting classic need for speed game dont purchase this game go and re play the old ones or play one youve already done. If youre a die hard need for speed player play it but dont buy it, its not that great.
I really like Need for Speed ProStreet. I like all of the game modes, and especially the cars that you can choose from. There are a few things that I do not like about this game, though. I do not like that you lose all your points in the Race Day, if you choose to exit the Race Day, before you dominate it. I also do not like that there is no free roam. The graphics are okay, though. I would recommend this videogame to others.
Being that the economy is slow I can't afford to go out and spent hundreds of dollars like I use to. So playing ps2 game is a cheap way to stay home save money and have fun! Game was Total Awesome, Sick cars, Crazy tracks, bitc*en car mods VERY IMPRESSED. Not Easy to beat! Thanks for the great product hope I find something eles you have to buy! F.A.B.
It takes a lot today for ANY video game to hold the attention of teenagers. This game must have something the others don't because my 16 year old boy hasn't left the game to go hang out with friends in several days. He says the game is AWESOME and that's more than he's ever said about any other, so I believe him.
