"Full-bleed watercolor illustrations really convey the mood and places of the ancient city, as well as the human beings--and cats...Development, human and feline, is nicely characterized."--Kirkus Reviews, "The idea that deeply rooted conflicts can as easily be resolved is unquestionably simplistic, but the book's optimism is appealing."Booklist, "The narrative flows smoothly, and da Costa's language makes the story seem more a legend or folktale than a modern tale."School Library Journal, Full-bleed watercolor illustrations really convey the mood and places of the ancient city, as well as the human beings--and cats...Development, human and feline, is nicely characterized., "The watercolor art by this husband-and-wife team balances precise, close-up portraits of the boys with softly focused backgrounds that depict the various cultural nuances of the setting."--Publishers Weekly, Children's Literature Choice List 2002 Notable Children's Books of Content: The Best of the Bunch from 2001 (Association of Jewish Libraries), "The idea that deeply rooted conflicts can as easily be resolved is unquestionably simplistic, but the book's optimism is appealing." Booklist, "The narrative flows smoothly, and da Costa's language makes the story seem more a legend or folktale than a modern tale...The endpapers, which depict the old city with the Wailing Wall and the Dome of the Rock practically touching, are quite effective."--School Library Journal, "The narrative flows smoothly, and da Costa's language makes the story seem more a legend or folktale than a modern tale." School Library Journal, "Older children with some knowledge of Middle East politics, either from listening to the news or talking about the discord in secular or religious schools, will catch the deeper meaning...The realistically executed watercolor art catches the strong emotional content of the argument and conveys enough detail in dress and setting to establish the boys' cultural background while still making them part of the modern world."--Booklist

Excellent communication with top tier customer service. I was given an option of hardback or softback books to purchase and told exactly how long each one would take. Upon making my selection I was informed about what that particular type would entail, quality condition, and it was shipped almost right away. The package arrived in good shape, all of the books had all of their pages, exactly as promised. I am very thankful for a wonderful customer experience with this seller. 10/10.

Main set has arrived safely and sound. Per our conversation, the single from a 3rd source has not yet arrived. Items are as described, good condition, clean. Very happy with communication and quality. As per third photo, do you by any chance have The Black Stallion's Shadow and The Black Stallion's Steeple-Chaser? If so, I would be interested in acquiring those from you, also.

The book would have been as advertised, "Like New Condition ", however it was shipped in a plastic bag with no cardboard protection, rending it vulnerable. Three corners got damaged during shipment. One front corner is torn into the cardboard. The pages however are in new condition. Otherwise I felt the book was a good value for what it was prior to shipment.
