Reviews
"This is a truly remarkable collection of cleverly selected recipes. Punyaratabandhu is a gifted storyteller, and her work is an outstanding addition to the Thai cooking canon." -- Publishers Weekly , starred review "When Leela Punyaratabandhu is your guide, you eat well. Leela is the rare writer who not only has a deep understanding, passion, and respect for the cultural and gastronomic history of her home country, but also an undying inquisitiveness into cooking technique and a desire to perfect that technique for the home cook. She has the soul of a Bangkokian and the mind of a recipe developer. Leela may have learned to cook from three generations of her family in a nineteenth-century Thai kitchen, but she is a ceaseless tinkerer, always looking to update, adapt, and improve. It's what makes the recipes in this book actually work. In Bangkok you'll find a book that is personal, accessible, and perhaps most importantly, jaw-droppingly delicious." --J. Kenji López-Alt, author of The Food Lab "No one can argue that Bangkok is one of the world's greatest food cities. Leela Punyaratabandhu--the award-winning food blogger and Thai food expert-- captures the culinary magic of her hometown in this luscious new book, from snacks to curries to Thai iced tea. She has created an authoritative and essential compendium for anyone who cares about Asian food. The section on noodles alone is worth the price of admission." --James Oseland, author of Cradle of Flavor and judge on Top Chef Masters "Deep-cut Thai recipes from a true expert." --Bon Appetit " Bangkok is for the energized cook who will trek across town for a certain chile, collects specialized cookware, and plans vacations around eating as much as possible. The photography of the cookbook captures the city as much as the vibrant Thai food on the plate. Writer Leela Punyaratabandhu's personal stories are scattered throughout to introduce each dish, and you can feel her passion for cooking even when describing the scent of jasmine rice." --Bon Appetit, cookbook gift guide, "This is a truly remarkable collection of cleverly selected recipes. Punyaratabandhu is a gifted storyteller, and her work is an outstanding addition to the Thai cooking canon." - PUBLISHERS WEEKLY STARRED REVIEW

Item arrived on time and was packaged well. The item was exactly as advertised and was amazing value compared to other places. The seller was also incredibly speedy at replying to my enquiries. Although it was not the fault of the seller (the packaging used to send the item was more than sufficient), my figure did have a manufacturing defect (the left hand was broken off). Thankfully superglue put it back in place and no one can tell it was broken.

Item as described, well packaged, great price, unfortunately it took 9 days to arrive from stated dispatch date and seller didn’t respond to my request to investigate why tracking was still showing it as awaiting dispatch for a number of days.

Item came perfectly described with good packaging. Only issue is dispatch time and communication takes a while, thankfully came in time for what it was intended. Price is really good and super informative tutorials inside.

  • Great book!

I love Thai food. I’m Thai and know how to cook Thai food and my family’s favorite recipes. I like to try other Thai people’s versions of their favorite creations from themselves or family recipes. There are always different ways to cook the same thing depending on people’s tastes. Great book! Would recommend it to anyone that’s like me or interested in learning about Thai culture and cooking.
