Synopsis
Combinatorics is a subject of increasing importance, owing to its links with computer science, statistics and algebra. This is a textbook aimed at second-year undergraduates to beginning graduates. It stresses common techniques (such as generating functions and recursive construction) which underlie the great variety of subject matter and also stresses the fact that a constructive or algorithmic proof is more valuable than an existence proof. The book is divided into two parts, the second at a higher level and with a wider range than the first. Historical notes are included which give a wider perspective on the subject. More advanced topics are given as projects and there are a number of exercises, some with solutions given., Including many algorithms described in simple terms, this book stresses common techniques (such as generating functions and recursive construction) that underlie the great variety of subject matter., A textbook in combinatorics for second-year undergraduate to beginning graduate students. • Historical perspectives on Combinatorics

I'm still trying to figure out who the public of this book is. The author seems to have made an effort to reach beginners and advanced math students. This is one of the first book I've ever seen in which the second part of the book is aimed at a higher level. The author paid scant attention to providing answers to the problems. You may find one or two answers per chapter. The interesting thing though is that the author puts historical notes which gives a curious and interesting perspective on the subject. Depending how much math you know, you may like it or hate it.
