  • A life-like real scale model of the NASA Mars Curiosity Rover, with many details and appropriate science.

The LEGO CUUSO #005 is the LEGO IDEAS official edition of the NASA Mars Science Laboratory (MSL), or better known as the "Curiosity" rover. Launched on on November 26, 2011 it still works today, exceeding its lifespan. The lLgo model is a perfect scale model and is very educational to build. The booklet contains not only building instructions, but some comments on what part of the rover you are building, and what that instrument does. This provides educational insight into the science behind the design. This piece is not really a toy, but rather for the adult Lego enthusiast. It is not as complex as the earlier Lego "Opportunity" rover, and much smaller, but this one is very easy to build, not like its predecessor. I attached photos for size comparison. Not that this means the curiosity ...

  • A nice set but pricey now

This is a great set, but being retired it now commands a premium price. Make sure you buy a complete set with the manual as there is a lot of info in that about the Curiosity rover project. All in all a great set but really a collectors piece these days.

  • 95%

Unfortunately we had a wrong size tyre and a round pice that didn’t have a whole all the way through as it needed but hubby drilled it and I found a tyre so not to bad at a fraction of the cost . Our space obsessed son will love it !

  • Modeling history.

The model itself is small. But you have to realise it's based the real Curiosity Rover which is wandering around Mars. And designed by a real Curiosity engineer. I have seen the up date with a model of the rocket sky crane which lowered the rover to the surface of Mars. Wow. Want one.
