    An absolutely 'much watch' film

    A truly great film. I thought the performances were, maybe with one exception (Paul Dano's over the top, psychotic behavior seemed forced if not almost hackneyed), outstanding. The story is incredibly compelling and heartbreaking. Solomon Northup's indefatigable spirit and will to return home to his family is inspirational.

    A must-see movie.

    We are very fortunate if, of all the movies we see in our lifetime, a handful of five or six films deserve to be called, "sublime". 12 Years A Slave is one of those movies that totally consumes you, and I cannot identify a single flaw in this film.
