Brilliant Phone All Round
With a 4k display and a snapdragon 810 everything looks beautiful and responsive. The 810 series is known to be a very power hungry cpu but thanks to Sony's flavour of android running efficiently and with power saving options this isn't an issue. The OS is very similar to stock android, with only subtle changes to the overall look. It includes Sony's stamina mode, advanced camera app, sound and video engines that make colours more vivid as well as giving plenty of attention to both the high and low notes in music. The device uses micro USB to charge, which is a shame seeing how USB c was available at release. However it means most people will have plenty of spare cables available for this tried and tested industry standard. The phone is capable of quickcharge. However the box only includes a standard charger so a faster one will have to be bought seperately. The black model uses painted metal to get the black finish. This means that scratches will reveal the silver metal underneath so care must be taken to keep the device looking pristine. A case or skin is recommended to protect both the paint and the all glass back. As for the screen it is embevelled into the frame slightly do that screen protectors sit flush to the surround. I recommend trying tempered glass protectors with smoothed edges for the optimal smoothness to the edges. So overall if you were looking at the Xperia xz and don't like the style sony has used then this phone is a perfect replacement!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Still good after all these years.
I was lucky to get one of these in good condition. It's quick, the camera is good and its battery life for a phone that is likely 3-4 years old quite acceptable. There are as usual a few glitches in the software (in my case Android 7.1.1) but nothing too problematic. There are a few Sony things bundled. The Xperia file transfer product is useful if you have another Xperia, and it's also useful for backups to SD card. Bad, (but not too bad): There does seem to be a common problem with the headphone socket not working, but this can be partially circumvented by software. (Android Router). The phone does not correctly identify the headphones being inserted. There is a tendancy to overheat on hot days when using 4K video recording. Likely true playing intensely graphical games I suspect, but I don't do that myself. The 4k screen is a gimmick and although very nice, pretty much indistinguishable from 1080p, but then I have old eyes. It's just a bit bigger and a nice size. Things to worry about with a used purchase I suggest would be battery condition, and overall condition which can be hard to determine from photos. Using a good battery monitor like Accubattery would give a good idea of the state of things after a few days use. All in all, at the right price and condition an excellent buy. Cases are relatively inexpensive, Glass screen protector ditto. Don't buy a case with a hard plastic holder though, get gel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Sturdy budget phone
Nice phone for the price, was able to get it back to fully working condition for less than £10. Now I've got a 4k phone for £200. Excellent! Battery life is fantastic, I can go for at least 2 days on a single charge. Something isnt right
Its a beautiful phone but something isnt right with it (or my carrier Telenor). People who call me often cant hear me very well. Compared to my previous Z1 I get about 1/10th of the reception, a lot of the time I am out of coverage. This never happened on the Z1.
