Capcom's successful Dino Crisis series goes where no Dino Crisis game has gone before, literally, as players find themselves exploring the far reaches of space. Though the year may be 2545, dinosaurs are very much a part of this intergalactic adventure, something players will quickly discover when investigating the derelict ship <I>Ozymandias</I>. Gameplay involves leading a three-person team of marines to explore the abandoned vessel, whose inhabitants have apparently disappeared without a trace. The resulting mission turns into a test of survival as dinosaurs and other marauding beasts take over the craft. Besides the theme and locale, other changes to the series include new weapons and equipment. Players can now hover in the air using jetpacks and find various laser-powered guns to bring down the carnivorous cargo.<br><br>The action is viewed from a third-person perspective set behind the lead character of Patrick Tyler. At key points during the game, players will also control female operative Sonya Hart as both characters make their way through the various corridors of the spaceship. The deliberate pace of earlier titles has been dropped in favor of a more action-oriented approach, with a renewed emphasis on combat as well as the ability to jump and hover. Players are initially armed with a Vulcan cannon outfitted with unlimited ammo, but they will also be able to find miniature security machines called Wasps to open sealed doors or to attack the enemy. The more dinosaurs felled in battle, the more credits characters receive to purchase items such as recovery kits. Characters can also buy improvements to their carrying capacity, vitality, and energy.
