    NOT a fan of westerns at all... ~BUT~

    Tom Hanks was in it so, I purchased it. I'm being bias here because of Hanks (my favorite actor for decades) so, it was better than expected. But, it's not definitely not one of his better movies. If you like westerns, you'll like it better than I did. A little bit of everything all westerns have to offer...

    Best movie in the last 5 years

    Best film in the last 5 years. I loved 2 others Greyhound and Maverick also both excellent. Hanks who is in his 60’s is like a fine old cognac he just keeps getting better. The girl in this is perfect as the orphaned Indian capture child. The two of them are perfect together. This is a special love story between 2 people who have both lost so much. Johanna two sets of parents and Captain Kidd a veteran of the Civil War his wife to cholera while he’s away fighting. Both are broken but both are smart and brave to life’s challenges. He ends up rescuing her and then he’s taking her to a aunt and uncle. They learn each other and then finally love each other. It ends well. It’s a captivating watch all the way through and it’s perfect in every way. Buy this and understand this type of film is ...

    Well produced but a dark movie by Hanks

    I love Tom Hanks as and actor. The movie is well produced as I expected it. It’s a dark movie and I enjoyed it. But it would have never been a box office smash for Hanks.

    Best movie I’ve seen in a while

    Incredible story that is beautifully told, Tom Hanks is as talented as ever and Helena Zengel is a phenomenal little actress. The movie has an amazing score, too. I’ve watch it multiple times already.
