F.E.A.R. -- or "First Encounter Assault and Recon" -- is a first-person shooter set in a secretive complex full of government intrigue. Players take the role of a member of an elite squad of soldiers that's called in when conventional troops have failed. One such situation occurs when a crazed battlefield commander named Paxton Fettel escapes from a military instillation with a unit of troops. The first strike Special Forces team sent to quell the invasion was decimated minutes after arriving on the scene. Now it is up the F.E.A.R. squad to isolate the invaders and eliminate them, before anyone else gets hurt (or any multibillion-dollar government equipment is lost).<br><br>The game's realistic, near-future setting and storyline feature elements of horror, supernatural vision, and even philosophical insight. The lead character is not given a name, in order to encourage the player to more fully assume the role, but well-developed teammate characters are designed to bring a personal context to the adventure. Enemy artificial intelligence is designed to produce believable human characters, as well, who work together as a deadly efficient, reactive team.<br><br>In addition to the single-player game, popular multiplayer modes -- such as Deathmatch, Elimination, and Capture the Flag -- are available.

    Fast shipping and game arrived in working condition as described, Just a thing I didn't like is that the seller shipped the loose cart inside a mini zip lock plastic bag with no extra padding whatsoever giving very poor protection, for a 60 dollar not so common game.     FEAR is one of the best games ever made. The AI to this day is the best ever made. That's not hyperbole. While the environments can get a little stale, it doesn't matter because the unpredictable AI makes up for the somewhat predictable environments. Every 1 star review for this game is written with broken English, poor grammar, and no details. That says it all. If you're a thinking, honest person, you'll love this game. It's absolutely a gem even in 2018. They don't make games like they used too and the FEAR series ended too soon. I wish they would remake all the games and add more content.

    Classic Horror Shooter

    I love this series and game, I just wish they still continued to make this type of shooter even though i know resident evil 7 is similar, I wish they remastered this series in UHD. Other than that not bad for a used game for disc only. Plays without skips and can't wait for it to become part to the Xbox backwards compatibility so i can take advantage of my One X

    Classic

    Probably one of my favorite older games next to doom 3, quake 4, and the hitman collection. Classic shooter with the slow-mo ability. there isn't really a time where you are actually 'fearing' the game, but its got a great storyline and good mechanics. On extreme difficulty ammo conservation is a thing you will have to utilize. Lastly, the replay value is there and along with the expansion pack and maybe fear 2 you have 4 really good games that take place almost simultaneously with overlaps creating a different game than those made today. Fear 3 isn't really the same. Would recommend.

    Perfect early 00s dark depressing atmosphere comparible to silent hill but with FPS action and decent scares especially in the DLC campaign.Perfect representation of the early 00s. Whether it's games, music, shows, or movies. this game gives me same vibes as other movies and games like Kairo, Pitch Black, Doom 3, Riddick games, Condemned, Halo ODST, Cry Of Fear, Clive Barkers jericho, Killing Floor 1, Silent hill 1&2&3 and its soundtracks, Gantz manga and its anime soundtrack, Prototype, Armored core and its soundtracks. They dont make games or movies or entertainment in general like this anymore.
