Zacharia Sitchen, author of this most compelling book did over 30 years research to write this book of the early gods and how our civilization came to be with their intervention. He has determined that our civilization officially started with the Sumerians. However he believes that their were beings on earth even earlier then the Sumerians! He writes about what the cuneiform tablets reveal, and this causes one to stop and ponder, and you might find yourself saying “aha”, and another piece of life’s puzzle fits nicely in a “thought” you have had previously.

If you are interested in God's and Goddesses and the rise and fall of civilization, you will love this. I found Sitchin's "The Lost Realms" much more interesting because I liked all the archeological information. The Gods and Goddess are in that, too, but I find the presentation more compelling in the latter, which I have read three times. I can't get through this book book once

Sitchin, famous for translation of ancient Sumerian language, tells the story of the early Sumerian civilization, the Annunaki that traveled here from a far-away planet, and how the Bible, astronomy, archaeology and science support this evidence. With 30 years of research, the book also tells the story of how life was imported here from afar, and how the missing link is solved: the extraterrestrials genetically engineered early man into the Homo Sapiens we are today! "The 12th Planet" is the first book of the Earth Chronicles series offering indisputable documentary evidence of the existence of the mysterious planet Nibiru and tells why its astronauts came to Earth eons ago to fashion mankind in their image. A scintillating read!
Sitchin makes a daring and bold statement in his first book. If you thought Erich Von Daniken's "Chariots Of The Gods" was shocking, then you should find this completely mind-blowing. It's a bit difficult at times to read, with the mentioning of so many gods and historical figures and places, especially when they are mentioned in several different languages, but it's definitely worth your patience. Sitchin reveals that ancient middle-eastern civilizations such as the Sumerians and Babylonians claim that in antiquity, a huge planet called Nibiru/Marduk with a super-long elliptical orbit collided with Tiamat, and in the process created what we now know as Earth, the Moon, and the Asteroid Belt, also seeding our planet with it's own life-force. Eons later, the ancient Nibirian race known as The Annunaki, or biblical Nephilim, came to Earth to replenish resources which were dwindling on their own planet. Tired of slave-labour, the Annunaki sought to genetically engineer a slave in their own image - Homo Sapiens. I will leave the rest to the book itself. If you're open-minded, you could find this a very interesting and revealing read about the history of humanity and our planet.Read full review
It is hard to do this book justice in a short review. Sitchin provides an incredible accounting of some of the more significant of the nearly 3/4 of a million ancient texts and artifacts that have been discovered and recently translated from the ancient Mesopotamia area of the world. Based upon the continuing discoveries, he builds a credible theory that the ancient stories and "myths" that were passed down all over the world, including those from the Bible itself, were actually based upon our true early history and those who brought both life and civilization to mankind, as recorded in the earlier texts. First, explaining how the ancient Sumerians accounted for their lives and high degree of civilization, attributing it to a race called the Anunnaki, he then goes into the accounts in the earlier texts that predate the Bible, and upon which the Biblical stories of the creation, Adam and Eve, the Tower of Babel, and the great Flood must have been based. This book fills in the gaps of what came before the Christian/Judeo religions and provides some history to make sense of those things which are inexplicable by themselves in the Bible without that earlier history to draw upon. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not, Sitchin presents the historical evidence in a clear and concise manner, backed up with illustrations and depictions of the finds that were made. I spent a lot of my time checking things on the Internet, only to discover to my amazement that the sites and artifacts he was describing were indeed accurate. I would recommend this book to anyone with curiosity and an open mind about our past, and to anyone with a love of history and ancient archeological finds....Read full review
