Poor design by Mira. The switch chosen by Mira is not suitable for this application.
The new product will probably make your shower work. I have replaced mine five times over the last 7 years and I can now do it in about one hour. I have taken apart all the failed switches and all have burnt out contacts. The design of this overheat system is poor, the overheat stat contacts are under rated and not sealed from condensation egress.

An easy & economic repair.
Purchased in order to fix a Mira Sport Max electric shower. The overheat light had started to come on during operation leading to the heat cutting off. A common problem with Mira showers after a few years. The Thermal Cut Out (TCO) tends to stop working properly often owing to condensation related corrosion. Replacing a TCO is not difficult & an excellent step by step guide is available on YouTube. This item is a genuine Mira part & should serve to keep the shower unit working correctly for a good few years more. Excellent value bearing in mind that a new Sport Max 10.8Kw shower unit would otherwise cost over £300 to replace.Purchased in order to fix a Mira Sport Max electric shower. Repair or replace my electric shower.
My Mira sport stopped heating the water and only ran cold. I assumed it was the thermal cutout of the heater element. A new shower was £300 and a replacement thermal cutout and element cost £100 I have a one third limit and decided spending £100 was worth it as the shower was in really good condition. I stripped it down replaced the element and thermal cutout. The shower works perfectly now and both the old items were showing signs of failure. The cutout reset itself and the element had signs of leakage so after testing both items could have worked again but I decided the risk of the thermal cutout tripping again due to an over heating element was not worth the risk. So I replaced them as a pair. Both items were OEM from Mira. You need to have electrical knowledge and be DIY competent.My Mira sport stopped heating the water and only ran cold. Order the part early and received it next day. Very well packed and protected. If you look on YouTube you’ll find lots of The Shower Doctor vídeos with how to’s. They’re on my list of top suppliers :-)

Common fault it seems
This is an origional spare to fix a common fault with the shower, seem to last about thee years on average. I have had to replace three in about eleven years. Note some hexagon key screws are used in the unit so have a set of small keys available. Make a note of the cable colours before removing the old switch.
