This phone has excellent battery life and excellent coverage (it's on the Verizon network, doncha know). Voice quality is fine. Even with bluetooth left on all the time, the battery life is great. Do not buy this phone if you want good Internet service. It's crippled by the 1XRTT (only) data speed, but if you want the StraightTalk Unlimited or 1000 minute voice service, the cost of the plans is so darn reasonable. I pay $45/mo plus sales tax and about a dollar for who-knows-what (they've never really explained the charges but it's LOTS less than Verizon's extra charges, and MUCH less than Verizon's "unlimited" plans). The phone is also a bit "chunky" in depth, but this is not a big problem for me. Still fits into a shirt pocket. QWERTY keyboard is ok. It's a hassle to press the Fn key once to type the extended characters and then AGAIN to turn them off, but you get used to it. And the "dial-pad" buttons are too close together, making it easy to mis-dial, so watch what you're doing. The voice-dial function is OK for me, not great. The camera isn't great but it works. An occasional hassle is that the StraightTalk computers mess up from time to time, and you get a message that you're out of minutes, and sometimes can't make a call while they reset things at their end, EVEN THOUGH you have an "unlimited" plan with auto-refill. And DO take the auto-refill plan, using a credit card. Apparently you can LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBER if you aren't paid up. All in all, an excellent value, great cellular coverage, and worth the hassles I mentioned above if you just want real good phone service and txt messaging.Read full review
The keyboard is so easy to use and the buttons are not tiny like on many phones these days. The mp3 player works great and I really like that I can use a memory card in the phone when most other Straight talk phones do not offer that option. It is also very easy to download and save sounds as ringtones. Unfortunately recieving video messages from verizon customers does not work as the file type is not compatible.
This phone is setup great and has a very nice build, however it is missing key functions that I would like in a cell phone, like GPS and some elements to the address book. Overall though, Straight Talk phones have great service at an amazing price. I pay only $45 a month for unlimited talk and text. It makes me wonder why people even consider staying on their plans. The full keyboard can be tricky to use since it's spaced out so far and the space button could be in an easier place, but I love this phone.
Heres my two cents- I have had this phone for 5 months, at one point i stoped using it, two months later refilled my minutes with no problem. bought it at walmart 100$ there was probably one out of 5 people working there who knew what they were talking about. meaning if you want ATT coverage go with the gsm phones its at the bottom of the package in the front. if you want verizon coverage get a phone that uses CDMA again it should be on the package..KNOW WHAT SERVICE WORKS IN THE AREA YOUR GOING TO USE THE PHONE...if you travel abroad Verizon coverage will please you better than ATT coverage. Note that most of straight talk phones wright now are ATT GSM phones including the smart phones, still waitting on verizon smartphone to show up.no matter what phone you choose from straight talk the only thing that should stop you from dropping the contract phones is if you are addicted to the APPS that you can get with them.Dont use the auto pay it just adds a possible future problems with your $ accounts.dont expect all the bells and whistles with any of these phones just an affordable phone we all have been waiting for. Talk and Tex with my sam sch r451c NO PROBLEM. Internet use well lets just say its not my droid.Read full review
I am very happy with this phone. Its got a pretty decent battery life, QWERTY keyboard that slides out, it has a slot for the SD memory card, internet capabilities, an mp3 player(SD card required), and a camera. Its pretty much everything you could need for a phone and more than you'd expect for a phone at this price. Its durable, easy to use, and all around a very good phone.
