    For whatever reason the fan would not work. It was binding, not rotating with the metal aluminum plate. I took off the metal plate and now it is blowing air as it should. Could have just tolerance interference in my Dell E6400 laptop. But it works fine and blows the heat out when the laptop gets hot.

    This quiet fan is an exect replacement for the Dell 6400

    The fan is an exect replacement. It is indistinguishable from the original fan Dell put into my laptop ten years ago. It is so quiet and free of vibration that first I thought it was not working. I used a stetoscope on the back to verify operation in the low-speed mode. The laptop runs cooler then before. I took my laptop and the new fan to a PC-service shop because I did not feel like prying apart and then closing the delicate plastic case. This task should be left to experienced, or at least younger hands.
