The free ball turned out to be a great spare as it's unfortunately vanished in its entirety. Not sure if my pleco has eaten it or just buried it somewhere. These moss balls look good
I wanted to lower the nitrates in my 50 gallon aquarium tank and hadn't had much success with aquarium plants in the past, so thought I'd take a chance with these. I'm glad I did. They don't need to grow roots to survive and I liked the idea of them taking what they need directly from the aquarium water. They don't tend to stay where they are put (but I guess that would depend on the flow in your tank) however they seem quite happy to 'go with the flow' - and I'm fine with that, as its a very gradual movement I wanted to lower the nitrates in my 50 gallon aquarium tank and hadn't had much success with aquarium plants in the past, so thought I'd take a chance with these. I do not recommend the use of this product as it looks as though it will kill the fish over a longer period of one week.

My live plants were being eaten to bits due to the algae eaters in my tank so I decided to use artificial plants but still wanted something live to enhance the water quality.
