A scope that can be used by an amateur like myself. The instructions for the assembly were clear and precise, took no time at all to build. I purchased this for my daughter and son-in-law. Having just moved to their new home in the country, on the side and very near the top of high moorland! Ideal for stargazing at night! They love my purchase, having not had anything like it in the past! My school-age Grandaughter is of the same mind. Which I hope leads to her, maybe, getting very interested in Astrology in a serious way. Early days, watch this space.

I have not had so much fun with an scientific instrument since my college years 35 years ago. Set up is done in around 30 minutes and a full manual is available (reading in advance recommended). Upon my very first observation at nigh I made my first photo through it. I had hoped for Jupiter but as the North Atlantic Drift floated overhead a local LBJ had to suit as an alien. Fantastic views of the moon and the night sky. The 25mm eyepiece is my favourite and returns a magnification of around 60x. The field of view of the high power 6.5mm is limited and targets hard to find. In summary, for the first time astronomer, this is a great piece of kit and will impress at any star party - especially when you tell them the Price!

I recently upgraded from a smaller reflector telescope (700-76) to this BIG BOSS with equatorial mount and am blown away by the difference! I get an awesome magnification of Deep Sky objects and find star gazing much easier with the equatorial mount. I use a high-quality zoom eyepiece, which really makes a difference! You can boost the qualitfy of your observations so much by using a great eyepiece. It reduces light loss and improves the overall image quality. Fantastic telescope for great observations.

As from the very begining.....I encountered problems. One of the tripod legs was dented and I was only offered a petty compensation. After just a few weeks the EQ mount developed multiple faults. A result of poor quality materials used. Optics are no good. Very poor optics are offered with this telescope. For the focal length this telescope boasts, you would expect to see some of the nearest planets at least, in detail. However this is not the case with this telescope. Seems that the reflector mirror is not of good professional quality that Seben boast of on their description, where they also warn of other telescopes as being of bad quality and only theirs is trustworthy.....on the other hand.... avoid buying any optical product from Seben. A WASTE OF MONEY!!! They did offer to replace the mount with a similar one which also developed a similar problem. The Polar Axis auxiliary screw bites into the threading of the mount which is manufactured from a cheaper and softer metal and becomes loose and rendered useless. This problem makes it difficult and uncomfortable to adjust the Polar Axis. The spotting scope is also problematic in that, if the telescope is used for solar observations, the scope, which should be aligned, will start to melt on the inside and the cross-hairs become fuzzy. I did purchase even a zoom lens but it is of no better optical quality. The worst item I bought was a 3x Barlow lens. The 2x Barlow that comes with the package, together with 1.5x Erecting eyepiece are cheap quality optics. That sums up all about this product. Very little positive can be said about it and to add insult to injury, Seben's Customer Support is one of the worst I have encountered. They are completely unhelpful, arrogant and at times ignore customers completely.Read full review
