Great transfer speeds -software doesnt work -open source version works fine
This unit was researched before buying and the youtube videos of people chucking it around and dropping it in water were the selling point for me. I haven't dropped it yet (and don't intend to do so) so I can't comment on that aspect of the unit. Using USB 3.0 port I achieved around 30Mb transfer speed. The only downside is that the SP widget that you can download from the Silicon Power website to control backups and transfers doesn't work on my system - windows 7 home premium - and the support ticket took 3 days to get a response and all they said was that they knew there was a problem. I had to use an open source program - which is okay. I now have a fully backed up computer - breathe sigh of relief.
