Have owned numerous amplifiers over my 46 years of playing. Bought the V22 on the recommendation of my son. Extremely impressed, to say the least. Very, very quiet for a tube amp. Two channels with effects loop are great, especially if you like to run your compressor, OD/distortion(s) and wah pre, and all your modulation effects through the loop. Great tones on both channels. The triode/pentode switch on the back is awesome. The triode sound is remarkably sweet, while the pentode sound has lots of growl when the lead channel is pushed. I play a 2007 Gibson ES-335 custom and a 2000 Fender American Strat; and the amp handles both the humbuckers and the single coils really well. Great headroom for it's wattage(s). Fit and finish is good, but I would have used a plywood cabinet instead of the MDF. You get a lot of amp for the $350.00 bucks. Just sold my Fender Blues Junior and plan on buying another V22 for my home. This is probably the best bang-for-the-buck tube amp around. I just can't see paying hundreds, if not thousands, more for a 'boutique' amp, when this amp can give you just about all the sounds you're looking for. My son just dropped a grand on an AC30, and I have no problem saying that my V22 sounds as good, if not better than his Vox. I wouldn't take this amp out on regular gigs due to the cabinet construction, but if yours stays put like mine (on the stage of my church) then you've got a winner. I don't hand out praise too often on equipment, but Bugera did their homework on this and got it right!Read full review
Played a pals Blues Jr for quite a while and that was the direction I was planning on going til I ran into the Bugera V22. The Jr's spring reverb is definitely a step up but otherwise they are very comparable. The Bugera actually has more versatility on board with choice of "Normal" and "Bright" inputs,an external effects loop, Triode/Pentode power switching and mid boost. Handles pedals great. DD7 Delay, Blues Driver, Chorus, Cry Baby, Auto Wah and Tremolo to name the ones I've used personally. Like the Jr you get way more sheer volume and tone than you'd expect from a lower wattage amp. I paid $275 for a used one delivered to my home. Cost you $100 more for a new one or $300 more for a new Jr. All in all a really nice amp.
This is a well made, great sounding tube amp, easy to bias, digital reverb does the job. The overdrive channel can be on the bright side, by changing C46 TO A 2.2 UF WILL GIVE THAT CHANNEL MORE LOW END. The clean channel has plenty of low end punch, good eq range. I purchased the amp based on positive reviews, price, sound. I like the sound of the triode mode that is on the back panel, it will tame the amp down a lot. I don't think there is any amp out there, that will come close to the Bugera for the money. I would like the amp more if it had a good spring reverb.
Its the tube sound I was looking for. Not a spring reverb but its good enough. No headphone jack but works great with pedals. Quiet and speaker is good emough for me that upgrade is not necessary. Only negative is its a bit heavy but all tube amps are..

I have been playing Marshall amps (JCM800) since 1983. I bought a Bugera V22 because my practice amp (a Raven RG20) died. I figured I would upgrade to tube amp that I might be able to use for rehearsal as well. I gotta tell ya, this little monster does the job and then some! Not only is this amp loud enough to rehearse with a band, it has great, very "Marshall-like" tone! And, you can't beat the price! I read a lot of reviews that stated the the V22 "didn't have enough gain". I can't imagine wanting more gain than this amp has!! And, although I don't play Thrash or Death Metal, I do play some pretty heavy stuff! I do, however prefer articulation of notes when I'm ripping it up! The bottomline is I checked out a lot of the popular, 15-20 watt tube amps in the $300-$400 range and I am very satisfied with the Bugera V22!Read full review
