Since its release in 1999, Deer Hunter 3 has been giving many people the ability to hunt year round. Utilizing the STE 3.0 engine, the game was the state of the art for its genre in 1999, with its only real competition being from Cabela's Big Game Hunter 3. The deer models are fairly accurate, with bucks being larger than does, and larger bucks being larger yet. The A.I. is decent, but does need improvement, particularly with deer returning only a minute or two after spooking. Variety in items and hunting locations is good, however, the ability to customize weapons with different scopes and ammunition could have been implemented(An updated version called Deer Hunter 3 Gold introduced a new rifle caliber and allowed for interchangeable scopes). Locations are varied, but are found in either Utah or Missouri(the aforementioned game added maps in Canada, Alabama, and Pennsylvania). Though not talked about very often, the music in the game is pretty spot on. Overall, the game is a good buy and represents the cutting edge for its genre and the technology of the time.Read full review

I love this game! It is a great 3D hunting game. It gives you a great place to hunt and it keeps my attention for hours. It is very addictive and makes you work hard for that big buck.
I enjoy the 3d of the game, the different places you can hunt, able to change your hunter and gear etc.The reason I purchased the game is that mind was damaged.
I really can't say much, I ordered it for a friend. But I asked him and he really likes it, says it is a lot of fun and quit a challange. Thank you Roger
