Best Movie Version on St. Joan of Arc
This is the BEST movie version of St. Joan of Arc. Forget about the other versions. Forget even about the original version of this movie. The only one worth is this director's cut. Very accurate, great script, tremendous acting, true to the real story.

I saw this as a kid. until recently I didnt know that what we have seen is an edited version . this is the full length version. Its a good copy. I have enjoyed it what keeps bothering me is that the church burned her because they felt threatened by her. Or at least that is my understanding of it .I did like the one with Lili Sobieskie,I think is her name ? but this is the classic

Ingrid Bergman plays the shy young Maid of Orleans, who had visions and whisperings from other saints that helped her in battle against the English during the Middle Ages. This 1948 movie finally explains what this conflict was all about and how Joan was chosen by God to lead the province of France and its weak dauphin played by Jose Ferrer to reclaim the crown from the English and the larger province of Burgundy. It further explains well how jealousy and weakness brought about her downfall. Ingrid Bergman plays Joan perfectly as the simple young girl who became a warrior for her country. For this role, she was nominated as Best Actress. (She lost to Jane Wyman in "Johnny Belinda.") The movie was also nominated for 5 other Oscars: Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best ...
