I recently set up a nano tank and crushed a few into bits to scatter over some aqua soil before capping off with a couple of inches of fine gravel and it makes a really good nutrient layer for plant growth. I've used them in my other tanks as whole balls just pushed under the gravel and the plants are noticeably healthier. I would definitely recommend �� Really good price for the amount you get.
