Achieves 3 or 4 degrees C cool with the dial just over halfway up, meaning there is spare redundancy should lower temperature be required. May not be a case with all units, but mine made a fairly loud cranky knocking sound when the compressor starts and stops. Stuffing the gap between the compressor and the body of the unit moderately tightly with fabric-like material (least flammable I could find) seems to mitigate the problem. This however could compromise safety & durability.
