About this product

Product Information

Built on a new engine, Tony Hawk's Project 8 is designed to be the most complete and well-rounded game in the series to date. Tony and his crew are looking for eight promising skaters, so single-players in "Career" mode must show the pros they can grind, heel flip, and spin better than the competition. Gamers may select their avatar from one of five characters each with their own abilities and a specific trick, and then begin to complete the objectives found in each environment.

Missions range from grind challenges to bail contests, and each activity has several variations. Players may also hook-up with photographers for picture challenges that require skaters to perform tricks and follow instructions while keeping up with the cameraperson. "Puzzle" goals make players adjust the rails, vehicles, and other objects within the closed course to create a skate-able path to travel without touching the ground. A text messenger will also beep in from time to time to alert gamers to newly opened goals or contests.

An in-game feature called "Nail That Trick" allows a player to slow the action down as the character enters the air, so that gamers may create new skills or perfect old ones by using the avatar's feet to flip the board in any direction. "Nail That Trick" can be accessed at any time, and can be used to transition into the next combo. Of course, there is a "Free Skate" area where skaters can spend time practicing tricks and earning upgrades. Skill enhancing bonuses are given while players are in "Free Skate," and can increase such attributes as spins, vert tricks, grinds, and airtime. All progress can be viewed in the move chart. Players who want live competition can access the Internet and engage in two-player challenges, a new game called "Walls," and more.

  • Tony Hawk's Project 8 PSP review

The Tony Hawk Project8 game for the psp had me sticking next to my charger for weeks! This game was addicting from the moment I picked it up, with all the classic challenges from previous THPS games, plus new ones. I got easily adjusted to the different functions of the game, especially the "nail the trick". However, you dont get as much variety as you would think it would allow, you might as well slo-mo your tricks instead, which allows more time to bust a better combo and land. Also, many people love racking up the incredibly high scores, which I found have started to get played out. THP8 promised newer ways of doing tricks that require more use of the controls to get motions of a trick, however, they are pretty much the same as before. The levels aren't anything , you get to skate ...

  • Tony Hawks Project 8 Game Review (PSP)

The THPS series has had its ups and downs, but one of the main "downs" that has been upsetting people of a certain demographic (real skateboarders) don't like the added in "quests" or "missions" that have nothing to do with skateboarding. Also, we don't like the unrealistic air and tricks that can be done. Aside from that, this game is VERY good. Even I, who does not like the unrealistic and other non-skateboarding related material in the game, thinks this game is probably the best Tony Hawk game. It does not, however, come close to being as good as the game "Skate", which is the most realistic and best skating game I've ever played. But, since Skate isn't available on the PSP, then Tony Hawks Project 8 is as close as you're going to get to the real skateboarding experience on the PSP. I ...

  • great game for hours of fun

graphics are amazing the levels are good and the locations are big you never get bored and the am pro and sick levels are nice too the only thing the i dont like is that when you jump to rail any tricks it doesnt really have the presicion sometimes i would want to land in some tricks on the reails but it would make do something else you really have to get use to it i guess overall great game

  • Tony Hawk Does It Again!

Project 8 is a great way to continue the Tony Hawk Skateboarding Series. There are new tricks, old tricks, and more. The focus technique is learn, but once in it, it's awesome. Most games get boring after a few weeks, I'm still playing new levels after a month. After doing the Full Adventure, I went back and did the Classic Mode and found 10 more levels with three different levels of ability, each with their own tasks to complete. If you are into skateboarding games, this one will keep you busy for a few months. Buy it!

  • good title for a T Hawk game

game was for my 11 year old he loves all Tony Hawks games, i bought it for him for christmas but i will only take him less than one week to beat all the levels on the game. I hope he doesnt try all ther tricks on his own board that he does on the game
