    An easy to read book

I found the first half interesting, and clearly explained, but the second half was elaborated physics presumption, and difficult to understand. I find it very difficult to believe in negative energy, which can reduce the mass of a black hole over a long period of time - pure speculation, but Stephen Hawking CBE was respected for it.

  • Most critical review

A heavyweight read for its small size.

A book with a great reputation, but turned out to be pretty turgid reading (for the average enquirer seeking enlightenment). If you are a 1st year Physics undergrad wanting a fairly detailed overview of the subject it might be worth buying. My copy was perhaps unsurprisingly, pretty much "unthumbed" Explanatory similes, not especially good

  • Book has gone missing

I bought the book for my son who is a scientist working in USA. I read some of it but it was beyond me. Unfortunately the book has not arrived in the post -at his NY address - so it’s gone AWOL☹️

  • Brilliant

An amazing insight into scientific thinking about the universe. And written in a way that I can almost understand! Everyone should try to read it.
