The trajectory of the Foo Fighters' history is representative of some of the most seminal stages in contemporary rock, which this documentary traces from its origins. Beginning with the Fighters front man Dave Grohl's high school days, drumming in various hardcore punk outfits, we follow Grohl through his rise to fame as the drummer of Nirvana. Consistently writing and recording his own music throughout every stage of his career, Grohl eventually turned his solo material as the basis for his post-Nirvana group, the Foo Fighters, which has featured at various stages members of Sunny Day Real Estate, the Germs, No Use for a Name, and Alanis Morissette's band. Concurrent with the band's 2005 album IN YOUR HONOR, GUARDIAN ANGELS uses previously-unseen concert footage from various stages in Grohl's career, as well as interviews with family and friends of the band, to provide a penetrating look at this important, influential group.
