I have seen this movie more than 30 times in my lifetime. Believe it or not, I still see things during the movie that I marvel at. The black and white film to color, and back, is still a classic movie making genius effect. The thing that you have to remember that this movie was make in the 1940's, WAY before CG and other special effects were discovered. The acting is exceptional, and the story is very entertaining. I heartily endorse this movie for any age. Well, any age over 7. The witch, and those evil flying monkeys might be a little much for a very young child. The Wizard of Oz is in my top 10 favorite movies of all time.

The movie is entertaining and enjoyable. BUT, when you look further, you find out that the makeup used on Margaret Hamilton was copper based and resulted on her face being paralyzed, so that she had to eat through a straw for the rest of her life. Dave

We watched this as a family Sat night. Even though it is over 70yrs old, my grandkids loved it! It was one of my grown daughter's favorite and she even changed her name to Dorothy when she was little unknown to me until one of her little friends asked if Dorothy could play! LOL

We grew up watching every year. The calendar was marked for that night. My Neice wanted this movie because a lot of her friends have never seen the Judy Garland Wizard of Oz. She loves it!

An orphaned young girl unhappy with her drab black-and-white existence on her aunt and uncle's dusty Kansas farm. Dorothy yearns to travel "over the rainbow" to a different world, and she gets her wish when a tornado whisks her and her little dog, Toto, to the Technicolorful land of Oz. Having offended the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy is protected from the old crone's wrath by the ruby slippers that she wears. At the suggestion of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy heads down the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, where dwells the all-powerful Wizard of Oz, who might be able to help the girl return to Kansas. En route, she befriends a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion. The Scarecrow would like to have some brains, the Tin Man craves a heart, and the Lion wants to attain courage and hoping that the Wizard will help them too, they join Dorothy on her odyssey to the Emerald City. But The Wizard of Oz remains by far the most wonderful versions of the classic tale. This movie is a classic because it is timeless and no matter your age, watching it always makes you feel young at heart. This movie still has its magic and always will.Read full review
