About this product

Product Information

As THE BOURNE IDENTITY begins, a man who may or may not be Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is found floating in the Mediterranean Sea and is hauled onto a fishing boat. When the ship's doctor examines the unconscious castaway, he discovers two bullet wounds and an implanted device that displays a Swiss bank account number. With nothing but this code, the amnesiac Bourne travels to Zurich and gains access to a safe-deposit box containing a gun, thousands of dollars in various currencies, and valid passports from numerous countries--each listing a different identity. Within minutes, Bourne is on the run from a seemingly ever-present agency, relying on language and fighting skills he didn't even know he possessed. Offering $20,000 for a ride to Paris, Bourne gains the reluctant help of the nomadic Marie (Franka Potente). Meanwhile, the shadowy organization, headed by a tough-talking bureaucrat (Chris Cooper), sends numerous assassins (including the Professor, played by Clive Owen) after Bourne and Marie. As their situation grows more perilous, the two strangers struggle to find out who Bourne really is and why they are being hunted.Doug Liman's adaptation of Robert Ludlum's best-selling novel is a remarkable exercise in straightforward storytelling, with the director wisely choosing to focus on Bourne and his quest for identity. The fight sequences are thrilling, but never overly glamorized, and the film's pacing is engaging and deliberate. Damon, who displays genuine bewilderment as his character discovers his almost-superhuman abilities, anchors the proceedings with the subtle charm of an unlikely action hero. Potente also shines as Bourne's road companion, a savvy woman who slowly builds an utterly believable relationship with the confused man. Bearing distinct affinity for its European setting and classic Hollywood suspense films, THE BOURNE IDENTITY succeeds as an unusually smart character-driven thriller.

Offered as NEW but what I got appears to be a repackaged USED DVD: with scratch marks on both sides of the disk and it was secure in the case, not rattling around. Also, Seller added "Make Best Offer" in the description, so I made an offer and he countered at full price. It was a good price for a NEW item, and so I paid it, but why add that if you don't negotiate, and on top of that send out scratched up merchandise. All-in-all a bad experience that i will not do again. I think disk will play...

This experience was disappointing. If the seller does not want to field offers for an item, then don't add "Make Best Offer" in the description. Offers were answered with the seller stating they wanted listing price. We are talking about $0.62. I bought it because I don't play games. When The DVD is delivered I open it to find the packing for the DVD is a mess. I was promised good condition. Tape all over the box, looks like it was used for a desk. Part of the front is cut out. Do not recommend.

    Bourne Trilogy

Action? You'll never find better! And Matt Damon was made for the role! Now, if the guy I bought it from hadn't sent them in a busted case...

  • I'll admit it, I love this movie! the series is great!

I originally bought the VHS, I wanted to replace it with a DVD, I have the three titles in the Bourne series and cannot tell you how many times I have watched them, I don't seem to get tired of the action. My biggest problem is reading up on the series and finding out that it had originally been set up for about 7 movies, Too bad they got tired and stopped at three. maybe someday the people involved will make a comeback and give us more. Great action, Good Actors, the plot is modern and in the times where most movie makers are copeing out with nothing but re-makes of old movies, This one is very well recieved.

  • The Bourne Trilogy

They said that it was the second best spy thriller of all time. Well, if they are wrong they were not far off the mark. I watched all 3 movies, in order, one after the other on a Sunday evening. I bought the set on a recommendation from my work mate who indicated that the second movie had some scenes located in Goa, India where my parents were born. Personally, if I watch 3 movies in a row then the movies are imaginative, exciting and captivating because I rarely watch even one movie at home without also doing other chores in between. The movie was well directed and produced with action all over the world.

  • The Bourne Identity - Damon shines!

Matt Damon stars in this fantastic movie about a man who is found in the beginning of the film floating in the mediterainian sea. He thinks his name is Jason Bourne. But for that matter, he could be any number of people that match his identity on the numerous passports he finds in his safety deposit box. Why would he have all these different passports? Why can he speak so many languages? Why does he suffer from such terrible headaches. And most importantly, why are people trying to kill him? Damon goes beyond likeable and into believable as he stars as a man with no memory on the run in The Bourne Identity. A must see for all action movie fans.

  • Great movie!

This is one example of where the movie is so much better than the book. The book and the movie are not similiar in many ways, and in my opinion that's good because although I love Robert Ludlum, Bourne Identity was not his best book. As far as the movies go, if you have not seen Bourne Identity, you should if you like espionage, and action. Bourne makes James Bond and Ethan Hawk look like average joes.
