    Hailed for it's brilliance upon it's 1986 release, XTC's eighth record was described by singer/songwriter Andy Partridge as "a summer's day baked into a cake". Despite apparant tensions between pop-guru producer Todd Rundgren and the band(especially Partridge), they managed to create a favorite among XTC fans that many consider their finest acheivement. From the pastoral soundscapes of Summer's Cauldron and Grass, lush orchestral arrangements of Season's Cycle and 1000 Umbrellas, to the guitar driven pop of Earn Enough for Us and provocative hit Dear God, Skylarking is a bona-fide pop masterpeice. Listening to the Gold Master version significantly enhances the experience. The best way to descibe it is like HD for your ears. Even long time fans of the record will notice things they haven't ...
