Tim, provided excellent response time to my one query; the item was as described from a layperson's perspective; actually this item was a Stanley (of London) 4P Gunter's Chain as would have been used for "urban" surveyor distance measurements, quite unique; this was revealed upon delivery by the "light" i.e. reduced weight links and the extra marker at the 5th link interval;
