Roger McGuinn referred to his material as the 'Jewels of his Mind' in King of the Hill-I am reminded of this reference while reading Bsrry Miles lengthy but interresting journey in to McCartney's view of the 60's. I was pleased that the author utilized a series of insights directly from Paul throughout the book. As a writer, it was fascinating to hear him go into such great detail concerning so many of the songs he penned in this period. Mysteries were revealed as Paul discussed the meaning and even location in which many of these pieces were written, both alone and with Lennon. His vivid descriptions of the houses and rooms where he wrote many of his early songs almost transports the reader back to another time. I would highly recommend this book to any serious follower of Paul McCartney as a writer and performer-both then and now.Read full review
