Overall price good, but after waiting 11 days for delivery was surprised to see, lack of packing- surprised it landed in one piece. A bit of bubble wrap and card would have better ensured safe delivery- will test it as soon as weather improves

    Excellent, but expensive paint.

I've always rated Hammerite paints for quality and durability - this spray paint is no exception. The spray is fine and even; I find it easy to use and in this case a very good glossy finish is possible subject to thorough preparation of the surfaces to be coated. My only grouch - nothing to do with the quality of the paint - is the cost in relation to coverage area. One spray can would not give me two coats on a number of (historical) engine external components. But I wouldn't settle for an alternative paint.

    what happened hammerite?

hammerite smooth used to be so good! - what happened? i even phoned their help desk to ask why they had changed the paint formula, but they feigned ignorance and change of recipe or ingredients. it used to be (more) tricky to master but at least if you followed the instructions religiously and waited patiently for it to cure, you had a very tough paint - but no more! i recently painted some motorcycle yokes, and left to harden over several weeks. in the meantime it revived a couple of small chips, so i decided to sand back the area and respray. i was shocked how much paint flaked off even though i had properly roughed and cleaned the base steel. hammerite smooth used to be the go-too for resilience, now it’s no tougher than a regular acrylic. boo hoo.

  • Good quality, easy to apply, fantastic finish!

Ordered this paint for my husband to use on some metal gates he had been renovating. After a lot of elbow work rubbing down loose flaking paint along with a fair amount of rust on the gates etc. He went on to apply the paint. The results of applying just one coat of paint were amazing, also fast drying, leaving an excellent high gloss finish. My husband was delighted with the quality of this paint and extremely pleased with the finished result. One coat was sufficient. Superior to any other Hammerite paint he’s used previously.Would definitely use again.

  • Good all-rounder

I have used Hammerite paints for many years and am in no doubt as to their quality and effectiveness. The convenience of spraying direct to rust needs no recommendation although I do remove as much as possible and treat with Kurust first. I don't believe it automatically kills rust forever but certainly drastically reduces it's progress. Only downside I have found with the aerosol is that it can block easily and is then virtually impossible to clear the nozzle. This seems to be when you have used most of the can and the pressure has dropped. This will also waste what is left in the can. Even with a new nozzle it seems to block easily when pressure has dropped.
