Greetings From E Street: The ultimate collector's item for any die hard fan
I've been a Springsteen fan since I was a kid. My parents were Springsteen fans. At that time, being so young; I was more into the sounds (musically, vocally) than the actual lyrics. However, well into my teens; when I had been burned by love, and disillusioned by the leaders in my community; I began searching for someone who could understand how I felt. I was so angry and alone. I felt like an alien who couldn't relate to the current events and state of minds of the world I was living in. I felt like I was from another time; not meant to be. I know; the classic story of a disenfranchised youth. So one weekend I stole my dad's Springsteen mix and remembered a few of the songs immediately. I danced around in my room and felt untouchable. It was when I heard the song "I'm On Fire" that I ... I've been a Springsteen fan since I was a kid. My parents were Springsteen fans. The E Street Band provided a magical, soft hammock where Bruce's soothing, wise words would lay and swing in the balmy breeze... I closed my eyes for the duration of the record, and felt my soul transcend. Springsteen covered it all: family, war, the working class, dying, anger, vulnerability, frustration, truth, love, passion, desperation, the freedom in driving, unity, music, obsession, fear, self doubt, insanity, youth, pain, loss, darkness, regret, triumph, spirit, strength, God, rock n’ roll, home, and country. If the bible hadn't already been written; this was it; ordained by God himself. Now that I'm older, I can look at this band as much more than musicians; because as long as I've lived, no one had ever opened my eyes the way Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band did. I bought this book because I wasn't old enough to see Bruce Springsteen in concert with The E Street Band. Before I got the chance to see Bruce onstage with Clarence; Clarence passed away, and I never got to see them live together. It really hurts. I hope that before I die, I can bask in the glory of Bruce's electrifying presence and soul-lifting voice. This book has many of his quotes, band member quotes, experiences, and precious memories. There are also tangible things like: back stage passes, band itineraries, and even two posters. Bruce Springsteen's very first business card is inside, as well as an actual napkin from The Stone Pony. The best part is there are over a hundred RARE photos of the band inside! The writing was clear, concise, and dedicated. I could tell Santelli is a big fan, and not just some journalist. Having this book made me feel like I had actually been there. Through the whole thing, I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face. I shared it with every E Street fan I know, and they loved it too!
