About this product

Product Information

Sega's long-running RPG goes handheld for the first time in North America with Phantasy Star Portable, a story set between the events of Phantasy Star Universe and Ambition of the Illuminus. Players return to the Gurhal system where they join the new character Vivienne in an attempt to investigate and clear out an area contaminated after the perceived eradication of the alien SEED menace. Gamers can choose from a wide variety of options when creating a custom avatar, and then set about meeting new characters and collecting more than 150 items. Multiplayer fans can also join up to three friends for wireless co-operative exploration and combat.

  • Fun With Friends~

I might be slightly jaded in my view of this game, being that I was one of the few who pre-ordered the Online Version of it. My one major gripe is the difficulty. As you gain levels and raise skills faster in the "port", and there is the capacity to handle less enemies than a computer version, I find myself breezing through the game easily. This might also be in part from my pre-leveling my character in the free demo, then transferring the character to the game. To my dismay, there is still weapon and skill lag. What I thought was originally the fault of my slow computer or connection on the online version, is confirmed to be an inherent part of the game with the offline port to the PSP. The storyline is as much as to be expected from previous installments of story in the Phantasy ...

  • If you like PSU and want it on the go, get this game.

I really enjoyed playing Phantasy Star Universe (PSU) on the PC and PS2, so I figured I would give this game a try. For under $20, this game was well worth the purchase. It has more items, weapons, and even an achievement system that PSU does not have. The only two downsides to this game are: 1) A level cap of 100. While it may be SOMEWHAT fast to obtain, there are also 8 job classes to master (Lv10 for each) and 100 achievements to work towards (such as collecting all weapons, etc). So even once you hit the level cap, there is still stuff to do in this game. If you get bored of that one character, you can create another character in one of the extra SEVEN slots (yes, that's right, a total of EIGHT characters per save file!). 2) No infrastructure mode. In other words, you cannot play ...

  • Phantasy Star Portable

I really like the Phantasy Star series. I own Phantasy Star Online 1, 2, and 3, Phantasy Star Universe and now Phantasy Star Portable. Phantasy Star Portable is pretty much like a simpler version of PSU But the game play is the same and that's all that matters. I really enjoy this game. But if you can only get one or the other I would say PSU if you never go anywhere but if you are always moving going places Phantasy Star Portable would be a good choice.

  • Same formula new game.

I only played demo for this so far but I played PSO on the Dreamcast and enjoyed it. This one has wicked good character customization creation options, more than most MMO's on PC. My only complaint is aiming with ranged weapons is a pain in the butt. There's no lock-on, you have to go into FirstPerson mode which is the 'select' button and you cant move, only the cursor.
