The boxed set has 3 series, a total of 4 seasons. As a child, I'd watched all three series. Jason of Star Command truly holds up as fun cinema. The bad science is no worse than the average Trek series... and the ongoing plot is reminiscent of many a Roleplaying campaign. Visually, it's pretty good, and the transfer is decent work. My children enjoyed it, but it wasn't as enrapturing to them, merely fun and interesting. The special features are a nice touch; the crew interviews are fun for young and old. Star Academy as well holds up. The characters and situations are fun, and my children watched it with me enraptured. The transfer is as good as in Jason. The Special Features are nice touch here, too, but would have been even better had any of the ladies been included. Ark II, for several reasons, got only a few episodes from us. The kids found it just as fun as Jason, but it comes across even more preachy now than it did in my youth. Also, the transfer isn't as well done, and the filming was grainier to begin with. (I remember that from watching it on TV, and seeing the graininess then). It wasn't holding the girls, tho' they liked it. It was, however, too preachy. I now understand why my dad didn't remember it... he'd have tuned it out. It is, however, nice to see that my memories of it are dead on. The effects are primitive, and the Star Wars trained SFX guys weren't there. Of the three, this is the one that could be reprized easiest, but works the least well as is. The overall bundle is the same price as any one of the three had been, so Ark II being a bit of a loss is no big deal. All three are campy; make no bones, this is Space Fantasy bordering on Supers, and Post-Holocaust Low Fantasy, not true Science Fiction... but it's fun, nicely done, and priced right. And it is entertaining for Gen Z, too. The biggest drawback: It makes me wish Space Academy had gotten a season 2 alongside Jason Season 1.Read full review
These futuristic shows are way cool! From the rebuilding of a damaged Earth on Ark II, to the exploration of space on Space Academy, to the excitement of pitting Jason against the mighty Dragos in Jason of Star Command, these shows captivated me in my youth and are still fun today!

Watching shows like these 3 made for a great Saturday morning as a kid. Up until now, I had vague memories of them. Me by chance coming across one of them on YouTube is what got me interested again.

This Sci-Fi Box Set is a great series that brings back great memories from my childhood. Jason of Star Command is a wonderful science fiction series from the 70's. Great storylines and a great cast contribute to a worthwhile series that remains as wonderful today as it was when it was originally released.
