I bought Rock N Roll Jesus for the ALL SUMMER LONG song and couldn't get it from iTunes. I've been playing it all weekend. Except for 2 or 3 songs which are what I don't like about Kid Rock - screaming, loud, horrid music, , the other 9-10 are great. Roller Coaster was an unexpected surprise and New Orleans really captures the spirit of that city's music. Best of all is All Summer Long, Kid Rock's homage to Sweet Home Alabama, Werewolf of London, and remembering being young in the summer.
I've been a Kid Rock fan for years, and this new album is different, but is much better than his last two. Too Hott and Sugar have that "old school" sound. The rest of the album shows how much Robert Ritchie has grown as an artist, including the song "Amen." This album includes songs such as All Summer Long and Roll On (retro "feel good" type of songs.) Half Your Age and Lowlife show his constant comedic style. This is nothing like the old school music going back from Devil to his earlier recordings -- Polyfuse, Grits Sandwiches, Early Morning Stoned Pimp, but it has a unique style all it's own, and it's a definite MUST HAVE for any lover of Kid Rock's music. Some say he's selling out or going commercial. I don't feel that way. I feel he is growing older and mellowing and stretching his wings. Heck, aren't we ALL getting older? Give the man a break, I think it's an excellent album and you can tell that he put a lot of work into it. His new concert (YES A BRAND NEW SHOW) is also different, but EXCELLENT -- it focuses mainly on his new music, but of course he throws our old favorites in too to mix it up a bit. If you can catch the show, I suggest you do that as well. But buy the album first because you will have more of a feeling of what to expect. AWESOME WORK, BOBBY -- KEEP IT COMING!!!!! 1. Well, after breaking our son's first Kid Rock CD (Cocky)that came into our home,6 years ago, I am here to say that we were wrong. We, my husband and I EACH have every single CD that Kid Rock has put out and love them!! Rock N Roll Jesus is great. A little different from the rest of his stuff but great just the same. yea, it blows our son's mind..................
What is this? WHAT IS THIS? I guess it's an alright album, if you like his voice that is more raspy than Rod Stewart and if you like country rock. He can't even make a rock and roll song anymore without putting country into it! He originated by rapping his dirty raps in Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast. Then he got into rock and roll and made a great rock rap album, called Polyfuze Method. He got back into rap with his great album Early Mornin Stoned Pimp, but still had a good amount of rock in it. Then came Devil Without A Cause. A big breakthrough in his career. He turned from not even getting a gold record to getting a recently elevated 12x platinum album. He was still rapping. It did have Only God Knows Why, a Lynyrd Skynyrd sound-alike, but it was still fusing the rapcore and nu metal together and in a great way. Then he released his old rap songs that didnt sell well and it went 5x platinum. THen he started getting into country, with Cocky. Okay, he was getting a little southern, but it was still what he was good at, rap. This was when his raspy voice was starting to show. And who would of ever expected that badboy Detroit man Kid Rock would ever be played on a country station, especially not getting an award winning country album! But then came his self titled sole country and southern rock album. Wow, what a disaster to any Kid Rock fan. But now this, THIS!! HE CANT EVEN RAP WITHOUT GIVING IT A SOUTHERN ACCENT!!!!!!!! As I said, you would like this album if you like southern rock, but not at all if you like Kid Rock.Read full review
OK, Everybody Loves something he's done! Most of us (12 million+) loved The Devil Without a Cause album! Almost everyone wants another album identical to that one. That will probably never happen again. He has lived thru alot of changes since that album, and U can feel it thru everyone of his songs! Whether you love Rap, Country, Rock, Metal, Gospel, Folk, etc. There is something for everyone on this album. I have never in my life heard an album so diverse, by the same artist! This guy is changing and growing everyday. As we all are, but the difference w/Kid Rock and everyone else is HE can convey his feelings and life story in EVERY musical form. Listen, most would say He's gone commercial. B.S.! You can make an album and throw in your 1 classic Blues tune, or 1 classic Power Ballad, But nobody on this Planet can throw every type of music into 1 song the way The Kid can! One Difference, You CAN feel it when you listen to this album. This is Friggen' Awesome! So, if you want a whole Kid Rock album of Rock, Rap, Country, Gospel, etc. you will definitely be disappointed. But if you want to listen to a great album, and are open minded enuff to listen to some Power Ballads, some killer Gospel, Some Sad Shiznit, Some Country, or if you just want to stand up and scream some Loud Sleazy Rocking Shiznit, IT'S ALL WRAPPED UP IN THIS ONE ALBUM! So, Only one quote on inside cover says it all... "If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But...If it's real. you'll feel it," Looks kinda like it makes sense...right? Buy this F-ing album and listen to it in it's entirety, YOU WILL DEFINITELY FEEL IT! Hey Kid Rock....THANX!!!Read full review
