The BBCs STEPTOE & SON is one of televisions most celebrated sitcoms charting the love-hate relationship between uncouth and common widower, Albert Steptoe, and his unmarried son, Harold, who is desperate to escape their decrepit rang-and-bone business. In this feature-film version, the bright lights of the West End beckon for Harold when he marries a stripper named Zita. Resentful Albert tags along on their honeymoon, but his usual obstreperous self guarantees no privacy for the newlyweds. A case of food poisoning forces Harold to leave his bride behind and take Albert back home, forcing an end to wedded bliss that may see them left holding the baby! Created by Galton and Simpson (the award-winning writers of Hancocks Half Hour), STEPTOE & SON became a phenomenon with viewers thanks to its hilarious scripts and the performances of Wilfrid Brambell and Harry H. Corbett. This feature-film version allowed more scope to the characters, including on location filming, and was so popular it lead to the sequel STEPTOE & SON RIDE AGAIN.
