Little on heavy side but not too bad
A very powerful vacuum cleaner,the suction is very strong so much so that I can only manage to use it on min section specially on carpets and fluffy rugs I have to use the lift-away with small brush connection but makes carpets and rugs look brand new,I have back and joint problems so think that's why ,but cannot fault the performance of this vacuum.

A powerful cleaning beast and especially in homes with hairy/feathery babies
Excellent vacuum cleaner. I have a hairy house because I have long hair, lots of it and I moult a great deal in the strangest places. This is designed for pets and that is why I bought it. Its quite heavy in use but boy has it got some suction, I actually have to adjust it because otherwise the carpet is almost pulled up!. The house only has carpet in the bedroom the rest is wooden floors and rugs. It works very well on both floors and carpet. I've not used it on rugs as mine are leather and suede strips and I think it would be too powerful but I am sure it would work on any other kind. I like the fact it has lights so you can see what you are cleaning (and missing) and although the tools provided are limited and basic, in my experience you never use all these gadgets anyway and ... If you feel you need the entire range I believe they can be purchased separately but a basic upholstery brush, crevice tool and another pet tool are more than adequate for my personal needs. Personally they can never be too short and another couple of feet would have been great to have but I am not having to constantly move plugs to clean my house. It isn't the quietest machine I've ever known, but for what power your getting it never will be. I've not had it very long as yet so I may add more as an update as I get used to it but so far it ticks all the boxes for me and I'm sure any house with pets will be delighted. I don't have pets it is just me but I would still buy it again and recommend it for an animal household. Price was very good as I got it on offer but even full price it seems worth it to me. My first Shark purchase I now don't believe will be my last. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I have a pet now, a feathered baby who makes lots of mess whether moulting or not and throws seed like he's Geoff Capes. This copes magnificently with getting all of it out of the carpet, off the floor and all the strange places I now find seeds around the house. Mo doesn't mind the hoover either when I use it to clean up around his cage and sometimes even in it and he's only little so it clearly isn't that noisy or terrifying surprisingly to a small bird. It more than deserves its 5 stars and I really am very much a Shark fan now for life.

Very difficult to use on carpet
I have found even with the reduced suction switch on full it is very difficult to push over deep piled carpet. It works very well at bringing up dirt and dust but it is extremely tiring to push the vacuum over the carpet up to the point where I almost feel like not using the vacuum. I wish I could reduce the suction even further then it would be a far better machine than it is.
