Great collection of classic arcade games. [21 altogether i think]. I remember playing most of these games from the 1980"s like Joust, Paperboy, Defender etc, they really do bring back memories and it is great to have these games ported over to the psp format. Brilliant.

One of the reasons I love my PSP is the excellent value for money most of its games offer. Take this collection by Midway, for example. For a mere 7 Euros (that's what it cost me, postage included!) you get no less than 21 classic arcade games, including Mortal Kombat 1-3! All the games work perfectly (with the unfortunate exception of the Mortal Kombat games but more on that later) and the loading times are generally quite short. On a PSP 3004 most games take around 5-6 seconds to load but if you have an older PSP model they might take a bit longer. The controls are great and most games feel (almost…) like the arcade. The only problem is with the Mortal Kombat games. What's wrong with them? Well, first, they take longer to load, around 10-12 seconds (but thankfully, just a couple seconds between fights). Second, the music sounds crap (especially im Mortal Kombat 1) and the sound effects are a bit messed up. Sometimes you hit your opponent and you hear the sound affect a second later and other times you hear the wrong sound effect, for example you get a "kick" sound effect when you jump, without even touching your opponent! Third, even though the controls work fine, I found it almost impossible to perform several of the most complicated finishing moves. Of course, all this doesn't mean that the games aren't enjoyable, quite the opposite. The graphics are gorgeous, the animation is smooth, the controls are fine and everything is there, all the fighters, all the special moves, all ending movies, even the easter eggs! It's just a pity that Midway didn't shorten the loading times and correct the sound bugs before releasing the collection, especially since the Mortal Kombat trilogy is the "highlight" of the whole collection and probably the main reason to buy it. So, in the end, is this collection worth buying? Of course it is! You can find a used copy on ebay for a few Euros and it will offer you hundreds of hours of entertainment! And don't worry too much about the glitches in the Mortal Kombat games. As I said, the games are still a joy to play on the go and after a while you'll forget about the crappy music and sound effects. The collection even includes a decent manual with a description of each game, its "plot" and controls. That's a 5 out of 5 for me!Read full review
