Wally Cooper is a journalist with a nose for a good story. Following up on a lead, she sets out to interview Homer Flagg, a young man from New Mexico believed to be dying of radioactive poisoning. But before the two have a chance to meet, Homer learns from his doctor that the diagnosis was a mistake and that heÆs perfectly healthy. Rather than reveal this fairly significant detail to Cooper, he accepts her offer of an all-expenses paid trip to New York, where, with the help of his doctor, he fools everyone into thinking that heÆs really at deathÆs door.
